Although the pain can be severe initially, most back injuries are benign and act a lot like a hang nail-keep irritating it and it hurts, leave it alone and it heals. MRIs and surgeries are most often unnecessary. Many times patients involved in litigation will not get completely better until their lawsuit is settled. Remember to always lift with your back staight.
